simply Yellow Vancouver Garden Wedding

This lovely couple goes way back, all the way to high school, where they first met. The spark came later though, when Simone and Steve reunited years later.  They both knew they were right for each other and that they would be together for a very long time – although marriage was never in their plans!

It was on their annual trip to the Okanagan, while gazing at the view of their favourite vineyard, Le Vieux Pin, that Simone popped the question. She gives “kudos to the men of this world, as it is intensely nerve wrecking” but she knew she had to go after what she wanted.

They were engaged in March 2014, and their wedding  took place only a few short months after. They initially wanted a really short, intimate wedding, but the guest count quickly grew to 175, with guests coming to see them tie the knot from all over the world!  Simone selected VanDusen Botanical Garden for their wedding venue, made even more special by memories of frequent visits to the gardens with her family when growing up.  They also wanted a place that was bright and that shows off the natural beauty of Vancouver in the summer.  The patio is open, yet covered, which is ideal for a wedding ceremony, and the restaurant serves good food and local wine and that was important to Simone and Steve.

Wisdom from the bride: “If you are feeling overwhelmed with planning, get some consultation from a wedding planner. It doesn’t have to be a full wedding planning package. Most are willing to provide partial service to get your started. It may seem like a big cost, but it will save a lot of time and headache in the end. Alternatively, having a wedding coordinator on the day of the wedding will also allow the bride and groom to enjoy the day without the hassle of making sure everything is running smoothly. Wedding planning can be stressful and put strain on both sides of the family. Having a professional take care of the details will help everyone enjoy the process that much more. As everyone says, the wedding is only one day. Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
