Some words of wisdom from the bride…
- It’s going to be overwhelming to plan a wedding and there are a lot of things to consider. There will be a lot of people who have opinions as to what they think is the best choice, but at the end of the day, it’s your wedding and you should choose what makes you and your groom happy. Do what’s best for you and says the most about your personality and tastes, and not what you think is “in” or trendy.
- Do your homework and research your vendors. Find reviews online, and meet with your vendors before you commit to anything. The best vendors will help you choose the best for what you’re looking for, not just try to make a sale. I felt comfortable talking to my vendors on numerous occasions, even when it’s to change something or make sure that what we asked for would fit our vision. A good vendor should be one that you have a relationship with throughout the process, not one who would stop talking to you once you put down the deposit.
- Ask for as much or as little help as you want or need during planning and on the day. You don’t have to have a group consensus on every single decision if you don’t want to, but you also don’t have to make every decision alone. There are lots of people who can help you if you look for it.
- Enjoy the process. Enjoy the day. Take a moment to absorb it all and try to remember to savour the moment because it really does pass by so quickly.
