Some words of wisdom from the bride…
- Hire a day-of coordinator. I have to admit that I am naturally type-A and wedding obsessed, so I couldn’t hand off any of the details of crafts, but on the day of I was so thrilled to give someone else the responsibility. It meant that I was focusing on the day and letting all of the details go! Caroline was amazing, and I didn’t worry for a minute because she was detail oriented just like me!
- Don’t be afraid to break away from tradition and make it your own. Our moms smashed a plate together to signify the permanence of our union, and used my now-gone grandfather’s hammer to bring him to the ceremony with us. We changed things up to make our day flow better. We also kicked off our reception with a thirty minute hora that started off with our grand entrance – it really set the tone before dinner that despite being a formal event, everyone could expect to dance and let lose!
