Angel’s Wedding Diary #4 – Introducing Our Perfect Wedding Party!

In Angel's Corner

It’s too stressful researching for a Wedding Venue (more on that later as I procrastinate), so I am going to motivate my planning with some progress (dammit!) by doing something fun and much easier – invite and choose our bridesmaids and groomsmen!

♥ Choosing My Bridesmaids

I know my sister is going to be my maid of honour, and there are three other clear choices for my wedding party. My only problem is that I need the same amount of bridesmaids as groomsmen so I had to wait for Darren, who… has less friends. 🙂
Some couples don’t mind if there is a different number of groomsmen and bridesmaids, but I wanted to pair them up nicely and be traditional.  After some negotiating and reviewing other options, we decided on having four bridesmaids and four groomsmen – though one is actually a bridesman!
Introducing… my bridesmaids:

♥ Mandy Pui

My little sister Mandy is three years younger and we used to fight like crazy when we were younger. Note to self: never have two teenage girls sharing the same bedroom. After our countless fights though, we would always make up lovingly. We do have vastly different personalities. She’s much more organized, neat and on time while I am, well, anything but. What we do share, however, is the same strong bond with our family and that we are both extremely sensitive, thoughtful and full of empathy. Even though she’s my little sister, she often acts like she’s my protective elder sister – as we speak, she’s editing my planning diary posts now and helping me with the blog.

♥ Gaezelle Mendoza

My “bestie” since I was 18, we met working at Guess – when we were hustling retail sales long before I started Weddingful. She’s my partner-in-crime with any shopping, makeup and Japanese tapas. She’s got my back and we’ve been through it all; whether it’s pushing a creepy guy off me at the bar (when I used to be young enough for that) or after any of my many breakups moving my furniture out, while I was busy crying and could hardly function. Next thing you know, I am on a couch with a cup of tea.

♥ Annalea Krebs

.
I met Annalea a few years ago at a networking event. She’s another female entrepreneur trying to make something work in this little tech startup world. We bonded over development issues, funding issues and overall day-to-day stuff.  It’s lonely sometimes to run a business on your own, so it’s nice to have someone who shares your woes, can give you a different view at the end of the day, and is overall a solid support system through the many ups and downs of running a business.

♥ Doris Chan

Doris and I met through her husband Mike over 10 years ago and we bonded over her very epic wedding planning. After witnessing her perfect wedding execution, her equally passionate love of details and her over-the-top creativity, I can’t think of anyone else but her to design and host an equally epic wedding show with me that’s…err just like her wedding!   Aside from unforgettable memories from the Wedding Soirees, we’ve shared tears and laughter playing video games, board games, drinking games, okay basically games of any sort. She brings out a child-like playfulness in me and I always have a fun time hanging out with her.

♥ Mark Bauer

.
Bauer and I met at my very first “startup” job…Artstar.com. I was 17 then as the fast-running web designer and he was the designer’s nemesis – the dev guy. I had no idea whether that guy worked at all because I always hear music blasting on the other side of the cubicle and he would be seen playing Christmas Elves bowling – when he’s not coding. We bonded over all you can eat sushi, black jack games, bad Jessica Alba movies and everything Vegas. He’s been there like a brother, whether it be through jerks that I have dated (and there were many) or building my very first prototype for my many many wedding ventures.

And here’s what my fiance has to say about his boys!

♥ Kevin Lee

.
Walking into a large, packed auditorium during my first week at S.F.U., there was one seat available and it was next to a guy who started chatting me up the moment I sat down.  That guy was Kev and we’ve been tearing it up ever since.  From teaching me pickup lines in Chinese that were total flops with the ladies to being stranded on the side of the highway in Central America, I’ve had endless adventures with Kev and hope to have many more.

♥ Tyler McCaskie

Nothing but good times growing up with Ty in North Burnaby.  I’ve known him since elementary school when we used to play soccer for Cliff Avenue. Our soccer careers were short-lived but the friendship continued on strong all the way through high school at Burnaby North and up until this day. In addition to being an awesome guy, those who know Ty know that he is a natural entertainer and is always good for a story. As I write this, I can picture him fleeing ladyboys on a beach in Thailand with a bucket of rum and coke in his hand, just like it happened when we went there at the ripe age of 18.

♥ Mike Schuss

.
Schuss and I met while selling drugs back in 2006…at Johnson & Johnson.  We’ve shared plenty of laughs since then and have been clocking a lot of time on our dirt bikes navigating the backcountry of BC lately.  If our fiancees weren’t so restrictive, we’d retire and ride every day. 😉  One of the latest adventures with Mike had a group of us take a 30 foot motorhome from the early 80’s, the Jamboree! – up to Merritt for a weekend of dirt biking and 5 star camping. Life is good.
